York Alto Saxophone, Accessories And Case

Saxophone consisting of several separated pieces that are assembled when played. This includes the base; neckpiece; mouthpiece; metal cover over the mouthpiece; a reed in a plastic container; a reed in a box; carrying strap; and a case made of wood with metal latches.;This instrument was manufactured by an important local maker of musical instruments. It was used by a member of the Italian American Band, and ethnic organization in Grand Rapids old "Little Italy" neighborhood. It can be used to interpret both the history of musical instruments, and the history of ethnic organizations in the city.;Originally owned and used by donor's mother's uncle (great uncle), Peter Lomonoco, in the Italian American Band in Grand Rapids.;Used by Peter Lomonaco in the Italian American Band between approximately 1920 and 1930.;1) Inside the case there is a sticker that states "Musical Instrument Exchange; Rebuilders and Dealers in band instruments; 46 Division Ave. So.; Grand Rapids, Michigan".;Engraved on the saxophone is a floral design surronding the words "York" and "Grand Rapids Michigan USA" at the base.;This instrument was manufactured by an important local maker of musical instruments.
