Science Collection
The mammal collection represents the diversity of one of the most well known Class of organisms on our planet.  The Grand Rapids Public Museum has collected mammals from its very beginnings in 1854 as the Grand Rapids Lyceum of Natural History.

This collection includes mounted taxidermy specimens of many species including large land animals of North America such as bison, moose, elk, bear, and wolf.  Furthermore there is a large collection of mammal bones including a complete 70 foot finback whale skeleton, and two mostly complete pre-historic mastodon skeletons.
