Lilly Daché was an American milliner and designer. She began her career in New York City working at a hat shop. In 1924 she and a friend bought the hat shop and a few months later she bought out her friend. By the 1930s Daché was creating other accessories and her business became so large that she needed to expand to two buildings. By the 1950s she was also producing costume jewelry and perfume. Daché retired in 1968 and sold the last of her 30 hats to Loretta Young. After retirement, she licensed her name. Daché passed away in France in 1989.
