This collection contains administrative materials from Clayton's Cafeteria/Thompson's Restaurant. There are two manager manuals for instruction on account procedures and maintenance procedures. A letter in one of the manuals from the general offices in Chicago addresses the Grand Rapids manager simply as Ed. The collection also contains payroll logs, industry product related magazines, unused paper ephemera and other documents from the early 1960s. Clayton Cafeteria was a Thompson's Restaurant located at 136 Monroe in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The John R. Thompson Company general offices were located at 350 N.
