Fluorite is a halide mineral made of calcium and fluorine. It often forms cubic crystals and can be a variety of colors such as purple, green, yellow, or colorless. This specimen is green, purple, white, and clear. It is considered a piece of realia, associated with Archival Collection #117, 'Study of Water Fluoridation and Dental Health'. It was donated by the National Insitute of Dental and Craniofacial Research, for use in the exhibition, 'The Fluoride Story'.
