Archival Collection #119 - Grand Rapids Plaster Co. contains the financial records including eight books of stock certificates, three financial ledgers, three directors records, three stockholders records, two books of Stock Certificates, and four books of directors minutes for Grand Rapids Gypsum Co.These records begin at the inception of the company in 1860. In 1980 the company was acquired by Domtar, and then took that name. Domtar was later acquired by Georgia Pacific, and finally closed down in 2000, the last gypsum mining operation in Grand Rapids. This collection is a record of an industry that was important for the economic growth of Grand Rapids and other cities in West Michigan for most of the late 19th and through the 20th centuries.
