Pipe Set For Sheng

Description:
Eleven bamboo pipes arranged in ascending order around a circular wooden piece to give a spiral effect. Tops of pipes are plugged with pitch. Bottom of pipe set is made from a conical piece of pitch.;This instrument complements the Museum's already signicant collection of ethnographic instruments. It may be used in the permanent exhibition, 'Collecting A-Z: M is for Musical Instruments'.;Collected by the Musee de la Civilisation
