Description:
Portable electric carpet and upholstery cleaning machine with turbo brush cleaning tool, original packaging box and instruction manual. a) Short, sqaut dark green, white and gray plastic machiine has a molded loop handle on top. A dark green flexible plastic hose connects to one side of the machine. The other end terminates in a green plastic cleaning tool with red bristle brushes. There is a 20foot power cord attached to the rear of the machine. Two removable white plastic water tanks fit into the front of the machine. The machine has it's own heater iinside. b) Green plastic Turbo Brush has a clear plastic cover over the top and rotating red bristle brushes. Fits into molded holder on back of the machine. c) Original cardboard packaging box has cream colored background with photographs of the Little Green machine on all sides. d) White paper instruction manual.;Donated to the Museum by BISSELL Inc. for use in the "Grand Rapids Cleans Up - A Histroy of Housekeeping" exhibit that was created to celebrate BISSELL'S 125th anniversary.;1) Lettering on the machine "BISSELL LITTLE green PROHEAT TURBOBRUSH" on front of machine tank. |

Bissell Inc. was founded in 1876 by Melville Bissell in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Bissell was responsible for the invention of the carpet sweeper and built the company's first manufacturing plant in Grand Rapids in 1883. By the late 1800s, they were producing 1,000 carpet sweepers a day. When Bissell passed away in 1889, his wife Anna took over as CEO, making her the first female CEO in America. As the times changed the company began to manufacture vacuums and carpet shampoos. As of 2019, Bissell Inc. is still one of the leading companies in floor-care.
