Collection of photographs, books and three dimensional artifacts that relate to the Maskevics family - Latvian refugees who lived in German displaced person camps for 17 years after WWII then immigrated to Grand Rapids in the late 1950s. The collection was compiled by the daughter of the family and the collection donor, Tia Grass, original name was Dzintra Maskevics The photographs include: Dzintra and her brother Karlis as children sitting on a bed in a displaced persons camp; the four Maskevics family members, mother Anna, son Karlis, father Karlis and daughter Dzintra; the third photo shows Dzitra as a teenager next to a bicycle. The books, under accession # 2003.15.1 are two Latvian language books used by Anna and Karlis to learn English in the camps. There is a sewing machine, green card fro Anna and a sheet made from flour sacks under accession #2004.41.
