Description:
Round, riged metal can with screened photograph of pickles, dil and peppers on both sides. On one side of the can there is English writing, the other is in Arabic. The top of the can has a pull tab for opening. There is a blue and white paper price tag for $1.99 stuck on the lid.;This can of pickled cucembers was purchased at the Middle Eastern Market, a grocery store located at 2417 Eastern Ave. in Grand Rapids. It was started in 2001 by Jordanian immigrant Emad Karaein who learned the business while workig at his father's store as a child. After coming to Grand Rapids in 1987, Emad worked at Hayworth for 12 years until he saved enough money to start his own grocery store here. One of the reasons for starting the store was to provide the growing number of Arabic people in the Grand Rapids area with foods, produce and meats they could not get elsewhere. It shows how foods which were once only avaialble in foreign countries, are now being packed and shipped directly for the U.S. market.;The English side reads Ziyad Brand/Premium Pickled Cucumbers/Premium Gold/Small/All Natural/No Preservatives/Net Wt. 16.5 OZ (470 g) Total Weight 29.5 OZ (850 g) . there is a nutrition label, bar code and ingredients listed in English on one side. The side with the Arabic writing looks to have iwords located in the same places as those on the English side.;This item was purchased at the Middle Eastern Market, a grocery store located oat 2417 Eastern Ave. in Grand Rapids.
