Description:
This collection documents several Grand Rapids-based companies run by Karsten Knudsen and Leroy Knudsen, who invented, patented and manufactured couple gears, gauges, brake systems, axles, wheel drive systems, and roller bearings for tractors, trucks, and fire trucks. The collection includes blueprints, specifications, notes, patent descriptions and exhibits of the items invented and produced. There are also some copies of historical background provided by the donor. This collection adds to the Museum's significant archives relating to early automobile and automotive parts manufacturing in Grand Rapids.This collection was donated by the grandchildren of Karsten Knudsen, the creator of the material.
