Brewmaster of the Grand Rapids Brewing Company Bottling Department;This item is part of accession 138059, the contents of the cornerstone time capsule from the original Grand Rapids Brewing Company, which was built in 1895. The business was a merger of six local brewers, all German immigrants to the USA. It became regionally prominent by the early 20th century, and remained so until it was dissolved during the Prohibition era. The photograph depicts Christoph Kusterer, one of the company's founders and a pioneer brewer of W. Michigan, who was born on May 24, 1823.;The object is part of accession 138059, the contents of the cornerstone time capsule of the original Grand Rapids Brewing Company, which the owners had put into their building near the end of its construction in August, 1895.
