Postcards ➔ Post Card, Green Top Cabs

Identifier:
2013.20.11
Description:
This photo of the Green Top Cab Company, based in California reads on the back: "March 1930, Floyd W Hanchett passes 100,000 check to Harry Davidson for the purchase of Green Top Cabs. William Glenn the General Manager is at the side of Mr. Hanchett." The Green Top Camp Company was a business in the line of Caroline Egeler, who was the sister of Geo. Egeler of Grand Rapids. She moved to California sometime before 1900. The companies Pacific Auto Stage and Green Top Cabs were both started by Floyd Hanchett, a son of Caroline and she worked in the business offices. Hanchett is the person handing over the check for the cabs in the postcard. This photo came in with a collection of family photos documenting Geo. Egeler's Livery/Hacks business on the West Side of Grand Rapids.
