CDV of Perrin Fox backmarked Nashville Tennessee. Fox entered service as a Captain of Co. D at organization 9/12/1861 and served as Major from 12/15/1863 until joining U.S. Veteran Volunteer Engineers 6/2/1864. He became Lt. Col. of the U.S. Enginers 4/17/1865 and received a brevet to Colonel 3/13/1865 for "faithful and efficient service". Fox was in charge of the Engineer detachment at Chattanooga Tennessee 9/17/1963-11/30/1863 which established the "Cracker Line" to bring supplies to the hungry troops there.
