Archival Collections ➔ Archival Collection #190 - Grand Rapids and Indiana Railroad

The collection currently consists of three train timetables from the Grand Rapids and Indiana Railroad. The Grand Rapids and Indiana Railroad was founded in 1854 with the initial purpose of building a railroad from Hartford, Indiana to Michigan. In 1855 it consolidated with the Grand Rapids and Southern Railroad Company, which held rights for the Michigan State line to Grand Rapids. After over a decade of financial struggles and reorganization, the initial line from Fort Wayne, Indiana, to Paris, Michigan, was opened for business in 1870.
