Description:
This white t-shirt is made of cotton and polyester and has the slogan "Vern Heads" in green block letters across the center front. There is also an interior label from Screen Stars Best that lists the materials, size, and care instructions. 

This collection of political paraphernalia comes from the campaigns of Grand Rapids politician Vern Ehlers. These types of objects, bearing the name and slogan of the candidate, were commonly given away to prospective voters at speeches, rallies, and other events.

Vern Ehlers
Vernon James Ehlers was born in Pipestone, Minnesota in 1934 and later moved to Grand Rapids.  Ehlers attended Calvin College and earned a Ph.D. in Nuclear Physics from the University of California, Berkeley.  He was the first research physicist to be elected to Congress.  Over the course of his career in politics, Ehlers served as a Kent County Commissioner, a Michigan State Representative, a Michigan State Senator, and the United States Representative for Michigan's 3rd district.

Screen Stars
Screen Stars was a very recognizable t-shirt brand in the 1980s that was manufactured under Fruit of the Loom. The company focused on creating black shirts to provide to other companies for the purpose of screen printing.
