The Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad operated from 1849 - 1970, chiefly west of the Mississippi River, servicing the following states: Colorado, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, South Dakota, Texas, and Wyoming.
If the date recorded on the back of the photograph (April 28, 1963) is correct, the engine at this point in time was used solely for special occasion excursions.
