Description:
Calcite is a mineral made of calcium carbonate and can be found in metamorphic, sedimentary, and igneous rocks. It is a large component of limestone and is often used in the construction industry. It is usually colorless or white but can be other colors if other elements are present. This specimen is gray and is in matrix. Under ultraviolet light, it fluoresces purple.
