This black single-breasted jacket is made of velvet. It has notched lapels as well as a welt breast pocket on the proper left side. There is also a welt pocket on either side of the waist and buttons down the center front. A center vent can be seen on the back and there is an interior maker label that reads "John Varatos". It also has a size label and a care instructions label. This jacket was worn by the donor William Templin.

He began his career selling menswear Hughes & Hatcher when he was 16. In 1980 he co-founded Fitzgerald's Men's Store in Grand Rapids, Michigan. After working for multiple different designers, Varvatos began his own company in 1999.
