This red necktie is made of silk and is decorated with a design of blue and white polka dots. It has a Christian Dior label and a hanging tag from the Dayton Hudson Department Store Company. It was worn by the donor, William Templin.

The House of Dior was founded in 1946 by the famous designer, Christian Dior. Dior was the creator of the "New Look" style that was widely popular in the 1950's. The style continued to thrive throughout the decade, coming out with a new silhouette each season. 

Christian Dior continues to be a very prestigious line of haute couture and has lines in fashion, perfumes, and cosmetics. Headquarters are located in Paris, France and, as of 2017, there are 210 locations.
