This photograph was taken at the Success Virtual Learning Centers in Alger Heights of Grand Rapids, Michigan on March 24th, 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. It shows multiple signs on the door addressing Governor Gretchen Whitmer's closure of all K-12 schools and requesting students to continue working on their online classes. On March 23rd, 2020 Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer issues Executive Order 2020-21, also known as the "Stay Home, Stay Safe" order, which temporarily suspended all activities that were not necessary to sustain or protect life until April 13th, 2020. This included closing many businesses and requiring citizens to stay at their residences unless performing essential acts of service. K-12 schools closed temporarily during this time.
