This collection of materials was found in a wooden chest in the R.B. Stilwill Horseshoer Shop. The family shop was located in Jamestown, MI and operated from 1869-1962 by Roswell Boice Stilwill II followed by his son R.B. Stilwill III. This collection consists of letters, envelopes, brochures, invoices, certificates and a pocket dictionary. The business documents list Stilwills' clients and accounts of horseshoe production and application. The accounts log monthly unit production and the annual total. This family operated business was one of the few shops dedicated exclusively to horseshoeing in the state of Michigan, it was also one of the last.
