Description:
Spool-shaped, hand-carved stool formed from a single piece of wood. Top portion decorated with a double row of brass tacks. Some tacks are missing or in poor condition. The stool shows signs of heavy use.;The stool was originally labeled 115827, and part of accession 4621. Subsequently it was renumbered by PMGR staff.;Part of accession 4621. The objects were collected by the donor while a missionary in the Belgian Congo, from 1922-1925. They were made by members of the Pende ethnic group, a Bantu people that live in what is now the Democratic Republic of Congo.
