Headwear ➔ Hat

Identifier:
126563
Description:
This hat is made of black, pink, and yellow velvet. There are artificial flowers along the front of the hat and it was made by Miss Brennan Modes.  Hats and bonnets during this time period were very elaborate with decorations and embellishments such as ribbons, feathers, lace, and flowers. Headwear was rarely worn indoors at this time and this style of hat was most likely worn with a hairstyle featuring large curls or chignons. This hat is an excellent representation of the style of headwear worn by women in the 1860s.
