South American ➔ Pot, Figure

Description:
Grayware pot with spherical body and stirrup spout. Bird-man effigy forms part of stirrup on top of pot; the figure looks skyward, with hands clasped.;Dark clay and the figure are unusual for Moche pottery. This piece is possibly from later in the culture or a imitation. Identified by Virginia Miller, Professor of Art History, Department of Art History, University of Illinois, Chicago, IL; tel: 312.413.2467;"AG" and "Peru" written in red on bottom of pot.
