Description:
Conch Shell horn used in temples throughout Mongolia and Tibet to call the faithful to prayer in the temples (notes from accession file.);Mongolian conch horn obtained from Urga, Mongolia by Edward Barrett in 1924. Donor notes he was informed that this horn had been used in Urga since the time of Kublai Khan and was the one used by the last Living Buddha in Urga.;See accession file #113346. Obtained by Edward Barrett in 1924 from the Palace of the Living Buddha in Urga, Mongolia. The object was purchased from Barrett for $15.00 in the year 1927.
