Description:
This fatigue blouse also known as a sack coat is from the United States Army of the United States Armed Forces. It was worn by Brigadier General Louis C. Covell of Grand Rapids, Michigan during World War I. 

This fatigue blouse is made of black wool and is double breasted with eight buttons down each side. It has black shoulder straps with a single star on each that indicates Brigadier General ranking. There are Michigan insignias on the collar.

Louis C. Covell was born in 1875. He served in the United States Army during the Spanish-American War as a Captain and was promoted to major and later, lieutenant colonel. In 1917, Covell became a brigadier general in the National Guard. He passed away in 1952.
