Description:
Pyrite, commonly known as fool's gold, is a sulfide mineral containing iron. When exposed to oxygen, the color darkens, turning from a brass-yellow to shades of brown. This specimen also includes chalcopyrite and bornite. It is in quartz and, according to museum records, was listed as a fire-making tool. It was found in Canada.
