After a successful first Field Day in June 1917, the Grand Rapids Furniture Salesmen's Association continued hosting a banquet and entertaining activities for visiting furniture salesmen during the semi-annual Grand Rapids Furniture Market. The Field Day started at the Highland Country Club where a sleu of activities took place such as golf, wood sawing and tug-o'-war games, race competitions, new vehicle raffles, performance acts, and food catering. As the Market grew and with more furniture buyers attending from out of state, the Grand Rapids Furniture Salesmen's Association continued to host a large banquet for salesmen with entertainment and more performances were added to various venues throughout Grand Rapids.
