Description:
This large beaded tapestry was made by Mary DeGuvara, an Ottawa/Chippewa Indian. It depicts a version of Leonardo DaVinci's famous 'Last Supper' that has been altered to display several Native American characteristics. The tapestry is a large and colorful example of the adoption of Christianity by Native American peoples in Michigan and the blending of Catholicism and traditional Anishinabe culture.
