Description:

A wooden, rectangular crate. Lug is both the name of the container and a specific weight and measure associated with cherry and fruit orchards. Commonly used until the 1960s when mechanical tree shakers became prevalent. The crate says 'Pear Grange Fruit Exchange'; 'Michigan Fruit Canners Inc.' from Northport, Michigan.
