Description:
Matching knife and sheath. Blade curved and diamond-shaped in cross-section. Handle flared at pommel and hilt, forming four symmetrical points. Handle decorated with carved and incised lines and dots. Leather sheath tooled on one side with geometric motifs.;Curved blade is characteristic of knives used for hunting by Arabic peoples of northern Sudan.;Collected by Heywood Walker Weldon, the donor's father, in 1962-1963 while teaching at the Khartoum Technical Institute, Sudan, through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
