Description:
Raised center on point, dark color string tied around base of point area; one side of shaft cracked or split.;The blade would normally be attached to a six or seven foot wood shaft. Maasai peoples used this type of spear to hunt animals such as gazelles. The spears were thrown in a fashion similar to javelins, and could travel over fifty yards.;Collected by Heywood Walker Weldon, the donor's father, in 1962-1963 while teaching at the Khartoum Technical Institute, Sudan, through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).;The spear blade was normally attached to a six or seven foot wood shaft.
