Identifier:

Description:
Wooden, cut-out model depicting the front elevation of old Grand Rapids City Hall (1888-1969) in two dimension. The piece is of simple shape and all surfaces are flat. A base color of gray covers the entire piece, and the depiction of City Hall is painted on the front side only and in fine detail: stones, steps, doors, windows, building trim, etc. Paint colors include gray, charcoal gray, gray-blue, black, and off-white. The front surface has a smooth finish.;This object was produced in 1993 as part of the Robinette Heritage Series -- nearly 25 years after the demolition of the building -- demonstrating that old City Hall was still thought of as symbolic of the City of Grand Rapids. It also demonstrates that there is/was a market for objects commemorating this lost Grand Rapids landmark.;Painted marks on the reverse side: 'Cat's Meow c1993' 'Robinette Heritage Series';Acquired by Public Museum Tim Chester and donated to PMGR's permanent collection in 2000.;Located in the office of Museum Director Tim Chester
