Identifier:
2001.77.1
Description:
One hundred-sixteen, 6" x 7" hexagonal flower blocks are set in staggered rows of 10 and 11 across. Each flower block is made of nineteen, small hexagons in a combination of print and solid colored fabrics. All of the flowers have a cream colored center. The blocks are separated by a row of solid white hexagons. The top and bottom edges follow the outline of the hexagon. There is no binding. The edges are turned in on each hexagon. The backing is a solid, light green, fabric.;This is a good example of a quilt that was done in the first quarter of the 20th century. The fabric and pattern used are typical of 1920s and 1930s. It is in very good shape and is a pattern that is not already represented in the Museum's collection. Because of its' excellent condition this is a good candidate for inclusion in the 'Q is for Quilts' exhibit.;The quilt was made by the step-mother of the donor's mother -in-law. The maker lived in Lakeview, MI but no name was provided.
