Description:
Blue, White and red official flag of the Dutch province of Friesland. The 3 white bars represent the 3 historic regions of Friesland. The 4 blue bars represent the waters of Friesland. The seven water lily leaves symbolize the 7 original Frisian lands or tribes.;This flag was sold at a local Dutch import store in Holland, Michigan. Frisians are a large minority group of the Dutch immigrants who came to West Michigan. While Friesland is not an independent nation, many Frisians in West Michigan maintained a distinct ethnic identity. This flag will be used in the permanent Newcomers exhibition.;1) Manufacturer's label, "shipmate", etc.;This flag was sold at a local Dutch import store in Holland, Michigan. Once a powerful independent. seafaring nation, Friesland is now one of the twelve provinces of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
