Sepia-toned B&W photograph of eleven employees of the Veit and Rathman's Brewery Company. Six employees are standing, while five sit on a bench; all are placed in front of a large stack of beer kegs, and surround a central sign. The five seated members hold glass steins filled with beer. The brewery was located on Stocking Ave. at First Street NW.;This item is part of accession 138059, the contents of the cornerstone time capsule from the original Grand Rapids Brewing Company, which was built in 1895. The business was a merger of six local brewers, all German immigrants to the USA. It became regionally prominent by the early 20th century, and remained so until it was dissolved during the Prohibition era.;The object is part of accession 138059, the contents of the cornerstone time capsule of the original Grand Rapids Brewing Company, which the owners had put into their building near the end of its construction in August, 1895.
