Description:
Five oversized, heavy white cardboard postcards have reproductions of ca. 1900 Grand Rapids photographs on the face. Three of the cards have brief explanations of the historical content on the front of the card; it appears on the reverse of the other two cards. The reverse of all five cards is almost entirely blank except for a logo of a man on a bicycle printed above the words "First Class Postage" and the name and address of the printer running vertically up the center of the card. The views are as follows: a) Sweets Hotel on Campau Square ; b) Patrol Team Outside New (1892) Police Station (shows a horse drawn patrol wagon) ; c) Hose Cart #3 on Bridge Street during 1904 flood; d) Reeds Lake in 1896; and e) White & white's Ice Cream Soda?;While we already have these copies of these postcards in the permanent collection recommend we take these in for the Education Collection.
