11 separate pieces showing various needelwork, sewing, knitting and crocheting techniques: A) 11"h x 10.50" w rectangular mesh has pre-printed red and black border lines. Cross stiched designs, borders letters and numbers on top section of panel. B) 14" h x 13" w linen panel divided into nine smaller blocks by drawnwork . Different eamples of blue insert needelwork on 6 of the blocks. C) 25" h x 5" w cream knitted over-the-knee stocking. Several different knitting patterns and insert of red in body of stocking. D) (" h x 8"w cream colored knitted tube with various knit stitches. E) 17"h x 10.50" w linen panel with examples of eight different hem and seam finishes sewn in red thread. The words "C. Jansma 1900" are embroidered in red at the top of the panel. F) 27 1/2 “ H X 17 1/2 “ W cotton panel with various seam finishes, buttonholes, buttons, plackets and gusset techniques. Embroidered in blue and white yarn at the top of the panel is “”C. Jansma, Zwolle 1901. G) 6 1/2” h x 12 “ w Doll sized cream knitted bodice with pink thread closure and neck drawstring. the initials “C.J.” are cross stitched in red on the front. H) 11” h x 13” w Doll sized cream knitted dress with back opening snf long sleeves. I) 5” h x 12” w cream crocheted panel showing five different crochet stitches. J) 12” h x 23” w cotton panel has a placket in the center and two different finish treatments. The initials “C.J.” are emboridered in red in the center front. K) 11” h x 11” w cotton panel has an inset square in it and two placket treatments.;Several of the pieces have the initials “C.J.” embroidered on them. Two items have the name “C. Jonsma” embroidered on them. These refer to the maker Cornelia Jonsma (1885 - 1973);Sewing, knitting and embroidery samplers were intended to tech a young girl the basics of these needlework techniques. Presumably she would refer back to her sampler at a later tine. The sewing samples would include examples of tacking, gathers, ruffles, gussets, buttonholes, waistbands and pockets.;These pieces were made by Cornelia Jansma. She was born in Zwolle, Netherlands on November 9, 1885. On August 26, 1915 she married J.G. Van Andel. Cornelia made these examples when she was 15 -1 6 in the Netherlands. She died in Grand Rapids on Feb. 3, 1973.
