Identifier:

Description:
A stuffed, canvas, king called The Burger King and wearing a crown and robe. He is an advertising character for Burger King restaurant. The "Burger King" logo appears on the belt buckle and necklace of this doll.

The Burger King is a character created as an advertising mascot for the international fast-food restaurant franchise Burger King who became famous in numerous television commercials. It was first introduced in 1955.

The plush Burger King doll shows how entertainment also plays into the role of advertising. However, Burger King was not the only business to turn to different kinds of advertising in the 1960s. Both McDonald’s and Burger King used television series to advertise their respective products. They ran virtually parallel series featuring “Kurger Bing” and “Ronald McDonald” as protagonists. Both McDonald’s and Burger King tried to appeal to the younger generations with these television series and plush dolls.
