The Boy scouts sought to teach “patriotism, courage, self-reliance, and kindred values,” through outdoor activities and hands-on life skills. The first aid kit was a staple of any outdoor activity for The Boy Scouts. This kit was made in the 1940's and 1950's. The tin and contents were prepared by Johnson and Johnson and contained gauze, adhesive tape, bandages, antiseptic, petrolatum, halazone tablets, and a first aid guide. Our example is missing several of the contents. The tin is designed with the ability to attach to a belt for easy access. The graphics include the Boy Scouts of America logo centered within a cross. The overall colors are brown, red and green.
