Description:
This Apple II Plus computer from c.1979 was used by Richard W. DeFouw of West Michigan. After graduating from Creston High School in Grand Rapids, MI, he went on to Hope College in Holland, MI and the University of Michigan for his engineering degree.  Rich worked for Ford and Chrysler in Detroit, where he earned his Master's Degree in electrical engineering.  During his career, he has worked for Lear Siegler, General Electric, Rapistan and Log Plan of CO.

The Apple II Plus was the second model of the Apple II series of personal computers produced by Apple Computer, Inc. About 380,000 were sold from during its production period of June 1979 to December 1982.  Some interesting facts to note were that the Apple II Plus, like it's predecessor, had no lowercase functionality and there was no caps-locked button. Other programs could be installed for lowercase letters. This system was the last to include a repeat key that had to be held down for letters to be repeated, a function that is now built into keyboard letters. This example contains a monitor, keyboard and two disk drives. Its part of the Grand Rapids Public Museum's growing collection of personal computers and related devices that demonstrate changes in technology.
