The 1923 Grand Rapids City Directory lists the Winick Brothers Iron & Metal Co. at 455-461 Sixth St. NW and identifies them as Wholesale Dealers in and Graders of Rags, Rubber, Iron, Paper & Metals. The Directory lists Golden Motor Sales at 49-59 LaGrave Av. SE. This image is looking north on LaGrave Av. from the intersection with Weston St. The building on the right is Engine House No. 1 of the Grand Rapids Fire Department. It still stands in November 2020. The building on the left is Shank Fireproof Storage. The building still stands in November 2020. They are located in the Heartside Neighborhood. Camera Shop number 23467.

The Camera Shop (donor) The Camera Shop was formed in 1908 by Walter K. Schmidt (1865-1938) to provide photo supplies to the Grand Rapids, Kent County Michigan community. He retained ownership of the Camera Shop until 1936. All of the known photographs which carry the Camera Shop markings come from the era of Schmidt’s ownership. The Grand Rapids Public Museum and the Grand Rapids Public Library have photographs from the Camera Shop in their collections.
