Leo N. Jungblut was a former Holland-Michigan based sculptor who had created many art works for churches in West Michigan and cities around the world in South America, Indonesia and Europe. Born in the Netherlands, Jungblut moved to Holland in the early 1950s. Continuing the career of sculpting he had begun abroad, Jungblut became widely known in this area for his works of art, both in churches and in secular institutions. In Holland he sculpted a bust of Thomas Jefferson for Jefferson School; a bust of Ray Herrick, an Industrialist who gave Holland the Herrick Public Library where the bust is located; crucifixes in St. Francis de Sales and Grace Episcopal Churches, and the Reformed Church coat of arms in Hope College. He also scupted a full figure of Herrick for Starr Commonwealth at Albion, and a lifesize Lord's Supper carved in oak at Howe Mlitary Academy at How, Indiana. He had siblings in the Netherlands and returned there in 1971 and lived in Harmelen, Utrecht, which was where he passed away in 1974.
