Description:
This medical instrument is made of wood and has a cap on the larger end that can be twisted off to show a spring-loaded end of metal spikes. 

According to museum records, this medical instrument was used for wet cupping in China. It belonged to Dr. E. Boise who was a surgeon at Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
