Produced by the WM. R. Schaefer & Sons Co. out of Boston in the mid to late 1880s. The company was founded in the 1850s by William Schaefer, and in the 1880s his sons took over the business and continued to produce high end shotguns and rifles that rival those made by high end European makers such as Holland and Holland and Griffin and Howe. This shotgun is chambered for 10 gauge shells. It was manufactured using a highly figured walnut stock and Damascus steel. Barrel is marked "WM. R. Schaefer & Son Boston".
