Description:
Greek flag. 9 horizontal stripes (5 blue, 4 white) and a white cross on a square, blue background in the upper left corner.;Galanolefci (Bue & White), the national symbol of Greece. The colors of the flag were chosen to represent the shore and sea. The nine hoizontal stripes represent the number of syllables in the phrase Eleftheriai Thanatos (freedom or death) which was the greek slogan in the Hellenic Revolution against the Turks in the 19th century. The cross represents the importance of Christianity and the Greek Orthodox Church.;1) Tag of flag's producer is in the Greek alphabet. The two primary words are spelled as follows: eta, lamda, iota, alpha, sigma / omikron, kappa, kappa (next is an "o" with a line struck below it, as in Latin), nu, eta, sigma |
