Description:
Leather-bound Keur Bible with brass corners and brass closures. Bible contains a family geneology which dates back to 1795.

On inside cover: This family Bible, which contains the Old and the New Testaments, the Apocryfical Books and maps of the Old and New World, was translated from the Greek to the then known language of the Netherlands, (Commonly called the Holland language) by order of the States Generals of the National synod held at Dordrecht in 1618/19. It was printed in Roman letters at Dordrecht and Amsterdam in the year AD 1704. Handed down from generation to generation. It is now the property of: Wm. J. and Cornelia Heyboer, (nee Cornelia Van Den Berge) Los Angeles, Cal. And after their death it is to become the property of their oldest son Cornelius J. Heyboer. On Netherlands documents, the early Heyboer ancestor was spelled Heijboer. The spelling of this name was likely adapted for English pronounciation.

This Keur Bible was printed in Doerdrech in 1704 and originally belonged to the family of Cornelius Heybour. It contains a genealogy beginning in 1795, as well as maps of the Holy Land. Keur Bibles are farely common, although they are known for their fine printing and accurate text.

William J Heyboer died in 1927, and Cornelia (Vandenberg) Heyboer, in 1938.  Their son,
Cornelius died in 1953.
