Description:
Inverted beehive-shaped basket tightly woven from natural fibers. Thin brown cord is whipstitched around the rim, and gathered into several loops on one side. Reference in Art of the First Australians, p. 38, #195;Fiber bags were made by various Aboriginal peoples, and ranged from loose-woven, "net" bags to ones so well-made that they could be used to store honey. They were used to store personal possessions, food items, etc.
