Description:
This side chair has a back upholstered in gold velvet with tassels along the bottom and is supported by white scrolled stiles. The overstuffed cushion features the same gold velvet upholstery and has piping along the edges. It sits atop a frame covered in gold velvet with tassels hanging to cover the four white legs. According to museum records, it was used in the Kindel Furniture Showroom.

Mary Kindel (donor)
Mary Kindel was born in 1907 and married Thomas Kindel in 1930. Thomas Kindel and his brother owned Kindel Furniture Company which was founded by their father Charles. Mary was involved with many organizations and was one of the founders of the first Planned Parenthood facilities in Grand Rapids. She passed away in 2001 and was the last living founder of the Grand Rapids Planned Parenthood.
